Regulars vs wallet passes
Wallet passes are genuinely good at one thing that we cannot do at all. Here is the honest trade, including when you should pick them over us.
We describe other people’s pricing as ranges rather than facts, because prices change and being wrong about somebody else’s price is not a fair way to sell.
| Regulars | Wallet passes | |
|---|---|---|
| Customer sign-up | Scan, name, number. About 20 seconds. | Scan, land on a page, tap Add to Wallet, confirm. Different on iOS and Android. |
| Works on any phone | Any phone with a browser, including older Android | iPhone and modern Android. Two systems to support. |
| Lock-screen presence | No | Yes, and it is the strongest thing about them |
| Stamp updates | Instant, the page just reloads | Via push. Usually fast, occasionally lagging at the counter |
| Works offline | Yes, the card is cached on the phone | Yes |
| Setup on your side | Nothing | Developer accounts and signing certificates on both platforms, renewed periodically |
| Branded to your shop | Yes, your colour and logo | Yes |
| Typical cost | £29.99 a month, flat | Usually a higher tier, often priced per location |
Where they're better
Written by us, about them, honestly. If one of these is the thing you need, this page has done its job.
Lock-screen proximity is real, and we do not have it
A wallet pass can surface when somebody walks past your shop. That is a genuinely useful channel and no web link matches it. If that specific capability is the reason you are buying loyalty software, buy the wallet product.
Wallet passes survive everything
No browser history to clear, no tab to lose, no bookmark to forget. Ours mitigates this by emailing the card link on sign-up, so it is recoverable from an inbox, but a pass in a wallet is harder to lose.
Our advantage is upstream of all of that
Every capability of a pass only matters for customers who completed the sign-up. Adding a wallet pass is more steps than opening a link, on a flow that differs by platform, at a counter with a queue. We would rather have the customer.
Choose wallet passes if
- Lock-screen proximity marketing is a channel you will genuinely use
- You are a chain with a marketing team to run it
- You already have an app and want the pass as a companion
Choose Regulars if
- You are one shop, or a few, and sign-up rate is your bottleneck
- You want one flow that staff can explain the same way to every customer
- You would rather pay £29.99 flat than a per-location tier
Loyalty without Apple Wallet: do you even need it?
Wallet passes look premium and cost more than people expect. Here is what they actually give you, what they cost, and when they are worth it.
Digital loyalty cards with no app: why simpler wins in 2026
App-based loyalty asks for a download at the worst possible moment. Here is why link-based cards convert better, and what you give up by choosing one.
Phone number vs QR code: the most inclusive way to run loyalty
Some customers have no smartphone. Some have no data. A loyalty scheme that only works one way excludes people who come in every week.
